Why Choose GCSE Geography?
Do you want to study a subject which gives you the chance to …..
- Learn more about the world we live in?
- Develop skills that will help you in other areas such as ICT and research?
- Do some of your work away from the classroom and school?
- Be assessed on project work and not just an exam?
- Work as a team with other students?
- Learn through investigating and doing not just reading and listening?
Would you like to be able to answer the following questions?
- Is climate change really happening? Who’s responsible? How will it affect me? How can we stop it?
- Why are there too many people in some countries and not enough in others?
- Why do people move to a different country? Why has Britain recently had people moving in from other European countries?
- What caused Doncaster to flood in 2007? Will it happen again? What can we do to stop it?
- Why wasn’t the Earthquake that affected me in Doncaster as severe as in some other countries?
- Why do I go on holiday more often and to places further away, than my parents did when they were my age? How do people going on holiday damage the environment? What can I do about this?

What does this mean?
Why could this help me get a better grade?
- This means that you do the exam straight after you have finished the topic.
- Your exams will be spread out in January and June. You can re-sit each unit once to boost your grade Even if you re-sit a unit and don’t do as well as the first time, your best grade is the only one that will count.
- All your hard work throughout the 2 years won’t just rest on one set of exams
