Students who choose to take Science as one of their options will find that it is time-tabled in such a way that it adds to the Science they cover in core. This means that they can cover more areas of physics, Chemistry and Biology and sit examinations, which will give them a double GCSE qualification, which is what most employers, and further education places require.

They will have separate lessons in each of the sciences and will be able to earn 20% of their final grade through practical coursework carried out during lessons.

The Double Award course is broken down into the following topics

Biology Chemistry Physics
Humans as organisms Metals Energy
Life and living processes Earth materials Electricity
Environments Chemical patterns Forces
Inheritance and Selection Structures and bonding Waves and Radiation

Coursework 20%
Module Tests 30%
Final Exam 50%
