This is a two-year course and is a joint venture with Doncaster South CLC.  Students will spend time at the CLC where they will have access to a wider range of specialist equipment.

What will I learn to do?

This is a practical, work related course.  You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities.  There are three core units, which are as follows:

  • Research for Media Production
  • Introduction to Media Industries
  • Introduction to Media Audiences and Products

Plus four units from the following list:

  • Video Production
  • Audio Production
  • Animation Techniques
  • Web Authoring
  • Interactive Media Production
  • 2D Computer Games
  • Media Production Product

What skills do i need?

A BTEC First Diploma is the equivalent of four GCSEs grade A*-C as a result, this course will only be open to the most motivated students.
Students need to be organised and interested in the world of media.  An ability to be creative and enthusiastic is vital.

What is next for me after this course?

With further training or study, students may embark on careers in the Media such as:

  • Broadcasting
  • Music/Sound production
  • Publishing
  • Film, video and Television production
