This is a two year Level 2 Course and is the equivalent to two GCSE’s grades A* - C
What will I learn to do?
Students will study three core units which are as follows;
Unit 1: Understanding Children’s Development
- This section will give learners an opportunity to learn about children and to use this as a basis for working in the childcare area
Unit 2: Keeping Children Safe.
- The main purpose of this unit is for learners to gain an understanding of the various considerations needed in order to keep children safe.
Unit 3: Communication with Children and Adults
- Students will learn to interact and communicate with children, which is different from the way they communicate with others.
In addition to the above sections, students will have to 60 hours of work placement to be completed
What skills do I need?
Students need to be enthusiastic, well organised, hard working and respond well to a challenge. They need to be willing to embark on their own independent learning as well as share group responsibilities at times.
What is next for me after this course?
The BTEC First Certificate offers direct progression on to a BTEC National programme. The qualification also prepares students for employment in their chosen career.
