BTEC/Diploma's

The BTEC courses that are offered at Balby Carr aim to offer a more vocational (work related) approach to studying for the students. Three BTEC qualifications can be taken:
BTEC Introductory Certificate - Level 1 (Equivalent to 1 GCSE)
BTEC First Certificate or First Diploma - Level 2 (Equivalent to 2 and 4 GCSE's A* - C respectively)


BTEC qualifications can be carried on to Level 3 which is the equivalent of and A Level

What are the BTECs are on offer at Balby Carr?

Health and Social Care    
 

A BTEC First Certificate is a practical, work-related course.  You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

 
Construction    
  The specification has been designed to give students a realistic understanding and experience of Construction as part of a broad Key Stage 4 Programme.   

Child Development

   
 

The BTEC First Certificate offers direct progression on to a BTEC National programme.  The qualification also prepares students for employment in their chosen career.

 
PE    
  These courses are designed to allow you to further your understanding of sports performance and are focused on the factors which need to be investigated if performance is going to be improved.
The courses are assessed through 100% coursework and there are no examinations so you will need to be prepared to work hard and attend all lessons.
 
point Performing Arts    
  This is a new course and combines drama and dance. It also offers the chance to work with sound equipment and lighting equipment which might be used in the professional work place.  
Travel and Tourism    
 

Stating a new course is exciting, BTEC Travel and Tourism is a great way to study, putting you in charge of your learning.  BTEC firsts are work related so you will be focusing on the work that interests you.
