Balby Carr is rightly proud of its Careers Education provision having been recognised as a model of excellence by the National Association of Careers Guidance Teachers and the DfES. The School currently holds all five Quality Awards from Lifetime Careers. Balby Carr was one of the first institutions in S. Yorkshire to receive this honour.

So what is Careers Education Guidance. In a nutshell it is about supporting students to make impartial, informed decisions about their future life pathways whether it be Higher or Further Education, Employment or Training.

The PSE Department led by Mr Old is at the forefront of  Careers guidance with Ofsted describing the provision as ‘excellent.’  So what support  do students receive in PSE?

As well as talking to the careers department you may find it useful talking to any of the following people who will offer all kinds of help and advice to make sure you are'nt alone in your decissions.

What Happens Next?

At the Year 9 Choices Evening on Wednesday 4th March 2009, you and your parents will have the opportunity to ask questions, see exhibitions and talk to subject teachers. You will be asked to complete the choices form later in March.

We do our utmost as a school to give you your first choice of subjects within the curriculum model on offer but it is impossible to guarantee that this will be so. If a subject is chosen by a large number of students and we are unable to offer more than a single group or if only a very small number of students choose a subject then we may have to place you in a reserve choice group.
