OCR Nationals are an exam-free alternative to GCSEs, taking a more engaging, practical approach to learning and assessment. The OCR National Qualifications are available in ICT and business studies.  They are also vocational (work related) courses which can lead to a Level 2 qualification depending on how many units you complete.

These courses are assessed solely through coursework. Students are required to complete a portfolio of work for each unit. There are no exams to take. Students who complete 3 units will be given a National Award in Business Studies which equivalent to 2 GCSEs. Students who complete 6 units of work will receive a National Certificate in Business Studies which is equivalent t to 4 GCSEs. Both qualifications are awarded a pass, merit or distinction.

What OCR Nationals are on offer at Balby Carr?

	Business Studies
	The course provides the chance to study several different aspects of business. Throughout the course different units will be studied which give insight into a different business functions.
	ICT
	The OCR National course is made up of various parts called units. These tell you what you need to learn, what evidence you have to produce and what you need to do to get a pass, merit or distinction in each unit. One of the units is selected by the examination board and up to five are selected by school.
